01 · Context
BigToken is a blockchain-powered platform that lets users own, control, and monetize their personal data. By completing surveys, check-ins, and other actions, users earn BIGtoken points redeemable for real cash via PayPal. The concept was powerful — but the app experience wasn't living up to it.
The existing product had a fragmented, visually dated interface that made the core value proposition — you get paid for your data — feel unclear and untrustworthy. The redesign needed to rebuild confidence in the platform and make earning and redeeming feel intuitive and rewarding.
02 · Research
I led a multi-method research process to identify the root causes of low engagement and redemption rates:
Key insight: users didn't trust the point balance display and didn't understand the conversion rate to USD — creating anxiety at the moment of redemption. The "Redeem" action felt risky rather than rewarding.
03 · Before
The existing app used a heavy blue palette with inconsistent components, dense information hierarchy, and a wallet experience that buried the USD value under raw point numbers — making users uncertain about the real-world value of their earnings.
Original app — home with earnings tabs, point balance, and wallet transaction history
04 · After
The redesigned app introduces a cleaner visual language — white backgrounds, purposeful use of blue for brand anchoring, and a glassmorphism wallet card that makes the balance feel like a real financial product. Key changes:
Redesigned app — survey interaction, wallet with slide-to-redeem, PayPal connection, teams dashboard, and insights view
05 · Motion & Animations
A key part of the redesign was adding purposeful motion — animations that make earning feel satisfying, transitions that communicate state changes, and microinteractions that give the app a premium, polished feel. Every animation was designed with a specific intent: reinforce the action taken, provide feedback, and make the product feel alive.
Survey swipe-to-answer microinteraction
Earnings update and screen transitions
Insights data reveal and toggle interactions
Delete data confirmation flow with motion
06 · Scope
This project is one of the few in my portfolio where I owned the entire design process end to end — from research and competitive analysis through A/B testing, information architecture, UI design, and motion. It demonstrates my ability to operate at every layer of the design process, not just visual execution.
